News from the Northwest

March/April 2008

Ron Knapp , MDF Regional Director

In Memoriam, Maggie Justice
Maggie Justice in a familiar role: volunteering at
the 2007 MDF Annual Convention.

On Jan. 10-11, 2008, I was accompanied by Director Ray Rugg and Montana State Chair Dan Dellinger to the Montana Outfitters and Guides Association (MOGA) Annual Convention. We sold eight MDF outfitter memberships and three individual memberships to start the year off on the right foot!

From there it was on to the Tri-Cities Sportsman Show Jan. 18-20. Working with volunteers from around the region we were able to sign up 16 new members and get around 20 names of people who want to start a chapter in the area. Sportsman’s Warehouse in Kennewick has offered a meeting room for the week after the National Convention, so hopefully we will have a new chapter in Washington very soon.

On the 27th of January I attended the grand opening of the new Cabela’s in Post Falls, Idaho.

The MDF 2008 calendar was a huge success throughout the Northwest region, as the chapters sold well over 500. We will look for the same or better in 2009, so get your orders in now!

The month of January ended on a sad note. Maggie Justice of the Yakima Chapter lost her fight with cancer on Jan. 21. Her funeral was held on Jan. 28. This special lady was a big part of the Yakima RMEF chapter and at the same time chaired the MDF chapter for the last 11 or 12 years. She always had a love of wildlife. The day before her passing she insisted on spending four hours at the booth in Tri-Cities with me selling memberships and spreading the MDF message. To George and the rest of the Justice family – we are sorry and hurt along with you.
