Cherokee Park State Wildlife Area
Northwest of Fort Collins Colo. Water Tanks and Spring Development
During 2005 and 2006, the Northern Front Range and Mile High Chapters partnered with the Colorado Division of Wildlife to purchase materials necessary for the installation of water tanks and spring development on the Cherokee Park State Wildlife area northwest of Fort Collins Colo.
These springs have been vital to provide water to mule deer, elk, and other wildlife in this drought area. The goal is to bring wildlife from lower elevations back onto the public wildlife areas as more water is available.
Orchards
Orchards have also been planted to benefit mule deer and other wildlife. These orchards include a variety of shrubs and trees for mule deer, including apple and plum. The orchards/tree planting areas have been fenced to keep cattle "out" and allow wildlife "in."
